"It is said that British punk emerged in 1976, spreading - virus-like - into the suburbs, provinces and cities of the UK. Almost from the outset, punk proved a contested cultural space. Born from the desire to commemorate his first trip to London with a photoshoot that acknowledges London's colourful history as well as looking to optimistic visions the future may hold, Dennis Sezer and I came up with the concept that celebrates punk as a movement that pioneered music, fashion and shook up a nation.
Always looking for the fun in things we decided to combine punk elements with modern styles and an array of colours, specifically pink. A colour stereotypically associated with femininity, romance, sweetness and politeness, completely contrasting the provocative nature of punk. In a way we saw the path to the future being a playful combination of these contrasts, only when we dare to speak up with compassion can we truly shake up things; and don't forget to have some fun while you are at it."
Thank you to my brilliant team on this one, my co-creative mind and co-wardrobe stylist Dennis Sezer. Though it is worth mentioning that the hairstyles were entirely born from his incredible creative mind.
Lucy Miller and Cara Price, thank you for an amazing job on the amazing make up looks.
Micah Morgan, thanks for lending a hand and thank you Iman T. at First Model Management for breathing life into our looks.
