the holy trinity of contemporary gods

As seen exhibited at Borough Road Gallery, London, 2017

A conceptual series of portraits exploring contemporary society’s blind faith in technology. The trio of women are portrayed in poses resembling that of classical religious depictions. May Haremo (1st image) is shown with her hands folded in prayer, her rosary beads replaced by an iPhone charger which is wrapped around her hands. Asheka (2nd image) from Named Models is shown in a devout pose with her eyes turned to the heavens awaiting to receive the holy communion, which is replaced by a SD card. Ella K (3rd image) from Lindenstaub is shown holding a phone instead of a bible, imitating the hand gesture of a preacher which symbolises amazement and wonder. All these items and the correlating poses represent how we bind and blind ourselves with our unquestioning consumption of modern technology.
